We spent the night watching the waves come in. Lovely.
The next few days we checked out the surrounding area. We went to Deanne's for a barbecue and saw some other friends of mine. The next day we moved to another site that was right on the beach. We were camping on the sand, just feet from the water. It was fantastic. That night the apartment hunters came out and met us on the beach. I still loathed them. So that night wasn't great, but I fell asleep looking up at the starts and listening to the waves crash. A pleasant memory indeed.
That morning we drove up to L.A. We needed to battle some California traffic because it's legendary. It didn't disappoint. But the carpool lane moved okay most of the time. We met up with a couple of Ed's friends that were moving up there. They had been looking for an apartment. It took about five minutes for me to decide that they were useless. I immediately despised all of them. They weren't all Ed's friends. Friends of friends I guess. One of the girls that was just in California visiting was pretty cool. We stole her and ditched the others. We headed out and took Mulholland drive over to the coast. We found some camping on the beach after a little trouble. Ed asked first and they seemed not to like his slovenly appearance and told us they were full. We sent the pretty girl up in tears and a camp site magically appeared. We set up camp, had some dinner, and hit the beach.
