My mom loves babies and small animals.  Actually, so does Chuck.  The difference is that my mom's affinity transferred to monkeys, while I believe Chuck's did not.  Or perhaps they both liked the monkeys equally, but Chuck's normal habit of letting dogs lick him all over his face and in his ears and cuddle to an awkward extent didn't seem appropriate for wild monkeys, so the love seemed a little restrained.  Either way, Lopburi once again provided an inordinate number of photo opportunities.  In addition to the normal cuteness, it was baby season, so there were tiny monkeys, only a few days old, running around the ruins.  We actually witnessed a birth, which was gooey and placenta-tastic.  It was like a very slow, very slimy train wreck I couldn't turn away from.  I'll post those photos separately so everyone doesn't have to see them.

So I don't have much of a story for Lopburi.  We saw several very cool ruins, which Lindsey and I had seen a few times.  However, my step-father the mason and lifetime participant in the construction industry was able to point out some very interesting aspects of the building methods and place them in historical context.  It's strange how similarly things are still done to some extent.  My mom seemed impressed, but probably was most enamored with the fact that I listened intently to Chuck's informative discussions since I spent most of my life diligently ignoring almost anything he said, to my own detriment of course.  He reminded me of my grandfather, who was also a hell of a story teller, and it pleased me infinitely to see them in one another.
