While monkeys don't really participate in kidnapping or organized crime, they do cause a bit of trouble around town. They will run up and grab stuff out of your hands. And since toddlers are closer to the ground, they often lose whatever treats they're carrying. It turns out taking candy from a baby really is quite easy. And the kids cry, but the parents are too amused to console them. It's really a lot of fun to watch.

They climb all over motorcycles, knock over trash cans, smear feces on shop windows - all the stuff teenagers do to amuse themselves. But the locals put up with it because they bring in the tourists dollars. In fact, they not only tolerate the monkeys, they actually hold a festival to thank them for bringing prosperity to the town. But more on that later.
