It's was our last day in Cusco. We were planning on going to Pisac today, but that fell through. I've had a cold/flu thing since the bus ride from hell. I guess I couldn't have expected to escape the epidemic on wheels unscathed. So today we decided to take it easy and stroll around Cusco.

It was a gorgeous day. And since the busses, trains, and taxis didn't run yesterday, the air was clean and the view was better than ever.

I don't have much to tell, but I have some pictures that tell a story of sorts. This town is touristy, but the poverty can't always be hidden. We found some parts of town that most tourists probably don't visit. We went to the local mercado which doesn't sell trinkets and post cards. They sell clothing for the locals, fruits, vegetables, and meat in a form I have never seen. I didn't know "face" was a cut of meat until today. I also found out how many skinned frogs you can get for a dollar (a lot). We were also reminded that the rest of the world doesn't have the same hygiene concerns we do. Check out the dogs at the meat market. And the kid at the end playing with the fanta bottle - he was maybe 2, but his parents couldn't be found. He was just sitting on the street hanging out. And the girl looking at her picture on the digital camera is cute as hell.

So tomorrow - Machu Picchu. Two days there and we were planning on going to La Paz. But there have been some road blocks and other issues because the people are trying to force the president to step down. So we'll see.

Also, I forgot to mention the other day, there was another great protest. It was the Coca farmers. They're the angriest of all. Why? Because the U.S. military keeps dropping poison on there crops from planes. And by the way, coca makes more than Cocaine.

God Bless America and the oppression of foreign citizens!

I probably won't update while in Machu Picchu. And if I don't post after that, it's because I joined the communist revolution in Bolivia.
