The joys of staying at a slightly more expensive and upmarket hotel is that you get a free breakfast (and fortunately not one that we had to make ourselves). My body almost went into shock from having cereal for breakfast and fruit.

Today for the first time we needed to pull out some more money from a cashpoint (or ATMs as they're called out here). We got directions from the front desk at the hotel to the nearest one, which we found without any trouble, but then got slightly confused as it was a drive thru cashpoint. We drove up to it expecting there to be a slot for our cards, but instead there was a microphone to speak to the person inside the bank.

Rather than risk being exposed as an idiotic tourist we drove off instead at fairly high speed, parking over the road so we could walk into the bank. Fully expecting to see a normal cashpoint inside the lobby, but there was nothing. So we had to go up to a member of staff and say "sorry we don't know how to use your ATMs, in England you just put your card in to take money out". The bank clerk very kindly offered to show us how we used them, taking us out of the other bank entrance where we promptly walked straight into a "normal" UK style cashpoint. All very embarrassing, we didn't have the heart to make the clerk show us how to use it!

Monument Valley was about two hours away from Page and we got there a bit late, thanks to the cashpoint fiasco and some later confusion at a drive thru burger bar. So sadly we didn't get the chance to actually drive through the valley, but we still managed to get plenty of photos at the entrance way and video footage too (almost 2 hours worth shot so far!).

On the way home we were driving towards a very colourful and bright sunset, Lynne tried in vain to capture this, but I'm not sure that our camera is up to such technical wizardry.

Back at the hotel, thanks to having a fridge in our room, we were able to eat healthily again. Who knows, I might come back from this trip under 15 stone after all!
