Where I stayed
Ok As promised this blog will cover what I've been up to plus photo's of the actual uni! So be prepared!
Starting with my happenings: After I'd had a tour of the house with Chad, I met the other two guys in the house atm- Kye, and Cody. Really cool guys! Then me and Chad went to a place called 'Pot Bellies' (as opposed to the Aussie electroband haha)- for lunch. It was really good! Kinda like a gourmet subway but cheaper haha.
Afterwards I got set up in my room, and Chad and I went to Walmart to pick up supplies! Now if ur not familiar with Walmart, let me introduce you. Think BIG W + WOLLIES + JBHIFI + ALL PHONES + LICORLAND + A GUN SHOP + STEROIDS
Then it was time for dinner! Cody from the house and some of his church mates took me to a 'Buffalo Wild Wing's' (B'dubs as the Purduan's call it!) for dinner. THEY WERE CRAZY ABOUT SPORTS IN THERE! You couldn't actually see thee walls- the were just COVERED in TV's watching the Purdue college basketball team in a game (yes college sport is really popular, normal TV televises the games- some people even prefer it to pro!). I'm pleased to say Purdue won :) In fact the Purdue team is ranked 4th in the country. Out of 200 collages, that's pretty good. I had some Bufflo wings at the place, which was actually chicken, so false advertising there haha,
Afterward we went bowling, and check this- $1.25 a game!! and free shoe hire if you wear Purdue memorabillia- how does the place even make money?!?! (I have this verified in a pic btw lol)
When i finally got home I started getting ready for bed, but bed was not going to happen! Kye asked if I'd like to go and get some pancakes with him- ''at 12:30am?' I said. Apparently even their pancakes places are open 24 hrs haha. So Kye and I went and got some unlimited pancakes for $6 at 1am. Haha, we had some really good chat's afterwards, and I didnt get back until 3
I woke up at 11 and got ready for my check in at the Uni (this is the on the 6th of January btw) Sat though boring info sessions that I didn't really need, gave all my details to the uni, got my student ID (nice pic for ya of the card in the pics!), good a blood test and gave all my health information to the American government (now there almost nothing left to give em!!)
When I got back to the house no one was home, so I had a lonely dinner, watched die-hard 4 on the telly, and chatted to some people on FB and skype. By this time some guys were in the house- met some new guys, then hung out till 2pm chatting, showing them how to play AFL etc etc. Good times!
Now I'll stop there and leave what I've done today for another blog! I don't wanna blab on (too much haha)
Now I'll talk about my pic's of Purdue (which I took today the 7th) First of all, It's snowing!! And really cold outside! When I woke up this morning, the street sweepers hadnt been around for a while, so all the roads were covered in snow, it was amazing!!
Now the pic's tell it all, but I'm very impressed with the architecture of the Uni- I couldn't stop taking photo's. In the pic's you see things like the fountain, clock tower, music hall- all very impressive buildings. And btw, its not just these that are impressive- the whole uni is! Its truly does put Griffith to shame (sorry Griffith hahaha). I'll leave the pictures to tell the rest of the story.. and if what they say is true- a picture is worth 1000 words.... you've got alot of reading to do!!!
Love you all! (except you Frank, I'm glad I'm not around you anymore Frank)
