So we got into Rome at 9:30 am. Our "hostel" was really close to the train station...about 3 blocks away. So our "hostel" is not really a hostel...it's a bed and breakfast! It is extremely adorable!! There are three bedrooms, a kitchen, and two bathrooms....basically it's someones flat turned into a bed and breakfast. Our room is gigantic. And Ulli the owner is a great guy! So this place officially feels like home.
So we dropped off our stuff and couldnt check in yet so we went to wander blazing Rome (so hot!). Note: we are still gross and unshowered from hiking!! : / But we only had a few hours to wander and explore and at 12 we got our room and got to shower!! Best feeling ever!
We went to go get a slice of Italy...pizza. It was delicious! And speaking Italian here is really fun. Jeff is loving it
Then it was time to see the Colosseum and the royal ruins. The Colosseum was colossal (no pun intended). It was unbelievable. There were so many people there admiring it. We also went to see the royal ruins that are in the area. It's so interesting to see them and try to imagine people there back in the day. And on our way back we got some amazing gelato and a little corner gelatteria. Heaven in our mouths!
For dinner, we went to a place that my book recommended. We had to walk a bit to get there and it was located in a non-touristy area so that was really nice to just take in the atmosphere. The waiter brought out bread for us and since I have been tricked in the past, I made sure to ask him how much it costed. He said it was included in the service. So we ate it. I got gnochi and Jeff got fettucine bologhese. Delicious. But the bill came and guess what! They charged us for the bread...by the slice! Those bastards haha
