So our new room: us and four Asian guys. Actually our whole floor is Asian except us so that's kinda funny.
So we Cooped it up in the morning and just got breakfast, lunch, and dinner all together: two peppers, coffee, bread, two bananas, and liver pate.
We got to the train station and we asked about hiking today and they advised us today would not be a good day because the clouds were still pretty thick. But you know what, I was determined to go so I didn't care. We got on a 12:05 train to Lauterbrunnen and then took a funicular up to Grundelshap. Then we took a mini train up to Murren. We were high in the clouds at this point! :) and it was about 15 degrees colder up there. Usually you can see Jungfrau (highest point in Europe) there but since it was a little cloudier we didn't see it
We then began to trek back down to Grundelshap. We had some amazing views and the walk was pretty easy. About halfway through we got a choice to either walk 30 more minutes to it or go to Lauterbrunnen in one hour. I wanted to go to Grundelshap so we did that. We passed a cow pasture which was funny. We passed some pretty waterfalls. By 2:25 we had to choose the funicular down or keep hiking down to Lauterbrunnen. We decided to walk. We thought we could make it by 3:30 and then try to get on the train to Lausanne. So it started ok, but it soon got hard! The easy trail was no longer that...we were now walking through the woods. Jeff fell straight on his butt...twice. I could not stop laughing. All along we were hoping we were going the right way but we would see random paintings on trees here and there.
Then we were back on a smooth route but it was extremely steep. By 3:30 we were close but not close enough. We had no idea where we were. A bit later we sawe the funicular!!! But it was going the other way haha. So we kept going. Finally we ended up in a residential neighborhood. We were so tired and got passed up by a woman with a stroller and then a toddler!! hahahaha
We caught the 4 oclock train back, got to Ost at 4:25, got to our hostel at 4:40 and made it back to the station at 4:55 to catch our 5:05 train. We were off to Lausanne for a bit....gross and sweaty.
We transferred at Bern. The train ended up breaking and we had to transfer yet again.
