We didn't know which train to take to Bordeaux and began to ask one of the train station workers thinking he didn't speak English. hahaha our French sucks so we sounded like cavemen pointing and trying to talk. welllll turned out he knew English and we just felt stupid.
The verdict on this train: A/C!! After about an hour though, the sweat beads were starting to form. They were trying to kill us haha. But soon we arrived in Bordeaux. Our friends in Barcelona warned us about the train station here but really it was not bad. The bus we were to take was nowhere to be found and the ticket machines were not working. We then found a girl who spoke English and she told us to teh get on Tram C with her. Sounded good as long as the control didn't walk on the tram. She was really nice. She used to live in the states but then decided to just move to France. We got off at our stop and she said the route to our place was not bad. Yeahhhhh not so much. We walked around for about an hour, mapless and Frenchless. Nobody else there spoke English and so we just kept asking "ooh e la" and then pointed to the address. Once we got to this one point though it seemed people all of a sudden spoke some English and they helped us.
So our hostel was not a hostel. It was a hotel. But at first it looked soooo shady! Like one of those little creepy hotels you see in movies. But really it was cute with a nice spiraling staircase and our room had a double bed, nice large window, bathroom, and tv! Luxury! We chilled and then got food. We found a hole in the wall place. It was a little difficult ordering and paying because we're still trying to get used to French but it was delicious! We then went to a market to get 7Up, water, and Bordeaux wine since it is the red wine capital of the world.
Back at the hotel we watched BBC. The wine was not opened cuz I had a fever. But we'll drink it in Paris. haha showering was interesting. The cubicle was about as big as me and it overflowed. Then some woman from upstairs yelled at us and slammed her shutters...i think cuz our tv was on loud. oops.
Next morning, woke up feeling better. At 8:15 we were out the door and off to a Boulangerie where we got some delicious croissants and pastries for cheap. hmmmmmm French pastries!!! So good. We walked the streets of Bordeaux for a few hours. It really is a charming city. And it is not very touristy so that is nice to see. I just wish I could see more trees there.
