Day 2 in Paris.  Attila was back to his old self and ready to conquer the city.  We hopped the metro and headed to the Catacombs of Paris.  As Paris grew, its old cemeteries were dug up to make room for development.  The bones from the cemeteries were shipped under ground and stacked lovingly and artistically in miles of tunnels beneath the city.  It was dark and musty and there is are ever-present guards insuring that no trophies or flash photography is taken (I understand the trophies, but why no flash photography?).  Each section of piles is marked with the location and dates that the bones were taken from.

We emerged from darkness into beautiful sunlight and back down into darkness as our next tour was of the Paris sewers.  This was not what I had expected.  I had seen a program on the ancient sewers of Paris and was expecting something like the underground tour of Seattle.  Um, no.  This was a tour of the functioning Paris sewage system, complete with the smell of merde.  Not pleasant.  Don't do it unless you have a passion for sewage.  Yuck.

Our final stop in Paris was to find the FNC store.  I was on a mission to find books, CDs, etc for my classroom.  Attila gave me 30 minutes (I could have spent all day!) so I went on a mad spree searching for the right stuff.  Loaded up with my loot, we found a post office were I packaged it all up and set it home.

As giddy as an 8-year-old, we hopped on the train to Disneyland Paris.  Yippee!!  We rode the Pirates of the Caribean (just like home except the pirates speak French) and I convinced Attila to go on Space Mountain.  At home, Space Mountain is a pretty tame roller coaster... in France, it is a little different.  I didn't know that.  So my promises to Attila that it didn't have any loop-de-loops was not exactly correct.  Oops.  Anyway, he loved it and insisted on buying one of the souvenir photos outside the ride.  We tried to ride the Big Thunder Railway but it was shut down, so we went on Indiana Jones instead (also different than home -- it's a roller coaster!)  We went to the Haunted Mansion and wandered through Adverntureland and Fantasyland, forgoing It's a Small World.  I went for one final Disney shopping spree before we reluctantly boarded the train back to Paris and our final night in Europe.
