We were starting to get a little worried as we approached Eimeldingen.  It was now quite late at night and the route our GPS gave us was blocked with road construction.  We took a very wide detour and finally found the street where our hostess lives.  Our friend at home had put us touch with her sister who lives in Eimeldingen and we planned to stay for three days while we toured the Black Forest region and Alsace.  After several attempts to find the buzzer, we contacted our hostess and she welcomed us with a glass of wine.  We chatted 'til very late before retiring for the night.

In the morning, Attila was not feeling well.   It seems that he picked up some food poisoning somewhere along the line.  We decided to stay close to home so he could rest.  I spent the day with our hostess and catching up on laundry.  Beatte runs a tutoring business out of her home and I had the privilege of talking to several of her students that were practicing their English.  It was a great experience talking to these young people.

In the afternoon, Beatte took Attila and I for a tour of the area, showing us places where our friends lived and frequented when they lived here.  But, Attila's bowels would not cooperate, so we headed home for more recuperation.

In the morning, my hopes that Attila would be recovered were soon dashed.  We decided to take him to see Beatte's family doctor.  She gave us some antibiotics and I was impressed by the efficiency of the German pharmacy.  As soon as the pharmacist entered the prescription in the computer, a little door opened behind him and the drugs were there!  I explained that in Canada, we have to wait 15-20 minutes after giving the prescription to the pharmacist.  He looked confused and asked why.  I said they have to count the pills out and put them in bottles.  I think he thinks our system is very old-fashioned!

After a nap, Beatte took us out again.  This time we went to Freiburg.  We wandered through the university town and hopped over the street gutters.  Leaving Frieburg, Beatte took us on a drive through the Black Forest.  It was impressive compared to other forests in Europe, but they've got nothing on Canada!  I was hoping to find a place for a little Black Forest Cake, but Attila needed to get back to home and toilet so I had to forgo my Black Forest experience (sigh).

That night, Attila spiked a fever and I thought we were going to end up in Eimeldingen for another day, but come morning, he insisted that he head for Paris.  We said our good-byes to our new German friend and hit the road.
