Still on the train, we wake up at the usual 7:30. It was a cold night, but the sun is now coming in the window so hopefully it will warm up in here.

We have our bread and cheese for breakfast. After watching out the window I feel tired and get back in my bunk. There is a knock at our door and the conductor tells us we will be in Thessaloniki in ½ an hour.

We arrive right on time and go to the station. I look for information on the next train going to Athens, leave in ½ an hour and then look for a bus station. I am told to go to the travel agent across the street. We decide to continue on the train. I get the tickets, Len gets some money, we are in Euros now, and then some sandwiches to have for lunch and run to get on the train. It is a 5 hour ride, a bit smoother than the last train and we can get up and move from car to car for a change of scenery. It moves along quite fast and there are about 8 - 10 stops along the way. We have naps along the way.

We get off in Athens, it is quite a small station. Len stays with the bags and I go looking for a hotel. Eventually found the Ariston Hotel, a newly decorated hotel, really nice. We are now into European prices too! It is not far from the railway station and the metro. The room is clean, sheets smell like hotel sheets and we feel very comfy here.

We go out to look for a restaurant but there isn't too much in the neighbourhood. We eventually find a place for dinner. Back to the hotel, a little drink of the Bailey's and lights out. We were still feeling a lot of rocking from the train so it ended up early to bed.

We had wanted to go to Church at midnight to watch the locals celebrate Christ's Risen. At midnight I heard fireworks and got up to look out but it must have been on the other side of our building.
