This moving day was long and drawn out. We had to wait for the woman to come for the keys to the apartment we were in. Then we caught a taxi and went to the offices to pick up the keys to our new place. The staff were very friendly, signed us in and soon we were in a taxi and dropped off at what we thought was the entrance, but it was a bank! Not the usual bank, the door was locked, looked like an apartment complex and the bank only opened if you rang their bell.
Well we used our key to get in and it didn't work. The man who answered the door got a woman who spoke English to help us, she tried to call the apartment rental office but there wasn't an answer. My heart sank, I thought someone had taken our rent money, given us keys for nothing and left us out on the street. The bank woman took Len around the back and they found which door we were to go in. I was relieved.
The building is old and the entrance old, we walked into the apartment and I was shocked! I expected someone to welcome us as there were chips, drinks, food, wine and coke bottles all over. The bathroom had shampoo, toothpaste and hand soap left behind. I called the apartment rental office and told Vlada. It was funny as she had told me at the office when I asked if it was clean, it was clean! She asked if we would leave for a little while and she would get it cleaned. We went out for lunch.

We went out for lunch and found a big restaurant. Couldn't find any Ukrainian food that we would recognize on the menu so we both ordered the business lunch, with pork.
We walked around the neighbourhood. We are in the downtown central area with Mercedes, Porsche, Chanel, De Beers and Tiffany as local stores. We look at the business buildings, stores, then find a casino. Actually there are a lot of small casinos. The slots have the same games as back home. We sit down and play, I am lucky and we cash out and leave with our few dollars more.
We stop in at the local store and pick up a few things for dinner. This is very different, making meals and washing dishes. There is a little washing machine so I did a load of washing. We have lots of English news channels and MGM for movies.
We were hoping for a microwave to make some popcorn, but no luck.
