Tuesday Feb 3

Another great day, breakfast, down to the beach, swimming, reading and chatting, lunch and then back down to the beach.

A young woman from the Dive Centre talked to us about her trip to Jordan and she was helping us make our arrangements for the bus. She got one of the beach guys to write the directions in Arabic for the taxi to take us to the bus station to buy our tickets. It all sounded simple and direct.

We talked to a taxi on the street and they quoted too much, so we walked away and a van stopped to ask us and agreed on the 15 pounds. So in we piled and went to the bus station in East Delta. He took us to a lot, where there was a little building on the back. We got out and it was empty and all locked up. We were disappointed and thought we had gotten here when it is closed, no busses running. We got back in the taxi and said take us back to the hotel, he was on the phone. He left the lot and went to the street not going to our hotel. He turns and says there is another place down the road, open 24 hours, and we can get the tickets there, he will take us there for 20 pounds. We agree. We end up at the bus station, he comes with us and we get our tickets. I said to Len I think we were just snickered, he took us to the old, closed, bus station, and then made like the hero taking us to the new station for more money! Hmmm! We head back to the hotel, get him to drop us off on the McD's street.

We did our emails inside McD's today and it is cold with the air on, we are sitting with our jackets on. It is getting dark outside and we think cooling off. We go out and realize it is warmer outside than inside, we take our jackets off on our walk home. We go via all the shops and have a look at all the goodies they have for sale for the tourists. We find out that Starbucks on the corner has free wi-fi too!

The dive shop girl loaned us a book on Jordan, in French, so I spent the evening sorting through the areas we want to see and try to figure them out and make notes in English. I note some questions and will check them out with her in the a.m.

Wednesday Feb 4

This is our last day at the resort. It is so hard to believe that the week has gone by so fast. Where did the time go? Same routine as yesterday, breakfast, down to the beach, swimming, reading and chatting, lunch and then back down to the beach.

Rubin and a guy from Moscow sit with us for lunch. Rubin also leaves tomorrow and is going to Luxor, catching a Nile boat to Cairo and then he is thinking of going into Vietnam. The Moscow chap is in University completing International Relations. He is even taller than Rubin. He has been to Europe, same with Rubin so we talk about what we might see and where we should go.

I spoke with the young lady from the dive shop and she went over her trip and answered my questions. I think we now have a tour plan.

Len came in from snorkeling and I was in the water, he seen some wormy like creature today. He handed me the mask and said to try it, so out I went. Len went to get his goggles and we went out to look for fish. They are right there, the reef is huge and rises to the top of the water. Sometimes I could put my hand down and would be touching the coral. Lots of beautiful coloured fish, big ones, that surprised me. There was one light coloured one with a yellow tail and what looked like blue lips! Saw a multi-coloured big fish in the middle of lots of little black fish. We came in and believe it, I was a bit dizzy and off balance. Now, some of you would say - that's normal for Jill! We washed off and sat in the sun to get warm and dry. It was a great experience and I loved what I saw and most of all Len was so happy that I got to share the passion he has enjoyed with snorkeling

We watched one of the beach guys get one of the guests wet and then the game was on to get the beach guy back. It was quite funny as it ended up 3 guests trying to get him. The workers here all are quite personable and friendly, which they pretty much must be in their job.

Tonight we sorted, packed and are just about finished. Met Rubin and the Russian chaps on our way back from diner, we said our good-byes and he said he would keep in touch as he might need information for his Vietnam trip from us.

The next adventure begins at 9 tomorrow.
