Our ride was here just before 9. We are in a Toyota car/truck, nice comfy seats. The driver tells us he will take us directly to the border and bring us back, no other tourists. Len feels woozie right away as the roads just to get off the island are twisty and up and down, about 3 crazy hair-pin turns where one has to give way to the on-coming traffic!
We walked onto the ferry and the driver came on after us. Not much traffic on the ferry, but we were early and it soon filled up. The driver found us and we got in the car before it landed to drive off. They start their engines long before it is even close to the dock! Wouldn't happen in Canada.
It was about a 2 hour drive to the border. First we went to the departure for Thailand and got our passports stamped. Then in Cambodia, it was a small border crossing, we filled out our forms for the visa - lots of young guys around just waiting to do it for us for a fee of course. We handed in the forms, passports and pictures and they asked for 1,200 bhats ($30). It should have only been $20 US! So now we have the visa in our passports and then we fill out the departure form and slip a 100 bhat into our passports and give it in. They then ask for another 200 bhats each - 300 in total each. This is because they are processing the forms all in one day - bull shit! Pure graft and corruption by the officers, but we cannot do anything about it, just tow the line and pay as asked.
Then back across the border and now enter into Thailand, fill out their entry form and get another 15 days here inclusive of today.
We stop for lunch - our driver informs us he has already eaten and was very eager for us to get in the car and go now. We ate, got some fruits and were off. This time Len laid down in the back
