Woke up just after 7. As I laid in bed I wondered what I would do for the blog for the next week or so because we would be just sitting here, eating, relaxing, going in the pool, reading and maybe talking with the other guests as they come and go.
First we check for emails, we are sharing the log-in with hotel as there isn't any internet right here. If we go on in the morning when their day is just underway we don't seem to have any conflict with being on line.
I checked an email from Voyage Canada, they send me notices of changes that are happening in all countries that might affect Canadians as they travel. There was a notice for Thailand and so I opened up the website. It says the visa for Thailand has been updated. So I read on and find out in November the Thai government changed their visa rules for those coming into the country via land border crossings. Now you can only stay for 15 days and then you must leave the country! Ooops! I said to Len get out your passport and check our Thai expiry date. It is stamped December 20. So we now have 2 days to figure out what to do. We of course first go to the desk and ask Dundee the manager and he says do a visa run to Cambodia. He makes arrangement for a car to pick us up at 9 tomorrow, for a hefty fee, and we will go by mini bus to Cambodia. Exit Thailand, enter Cambodia, exit Cambodia and enter Thailand again and get a new stamp. We should be back by 4. No options, this has to be done. The fine is 500 Bhat per day, per person, for each day over the expiry stamp.
We have breakfast and then go for a walk up to the road to find out what is on our corner and then walk into Lonely Beach area. It's quite the hike as we are in a hilly area. We have fun going into each of the stores and checking out the open area shops. Went for a walk way down a lane to a beach, but all we found was a rocky shore and some not so nice beach bungalows. Even the new ones being built weren't too appealing. We pick up 5 liters of water, some cereal and shelf stable yogurt/milk and of course some snacks. Now loaded down with groceries we wait for a taxi home.
We have a dip in the pool for the afternoon and read. We talk about maybe we should have just gotten a taxi, taken the ferry across, found a bus to Trat and then a bus to the border and done it on our own, but on second thought it will be much easier letting someone else take us there.
There is a group from Sweden here. They are a mix marriage with the wives being from Thailand. One chap comes over to speak with us, he has 7 kids. The first 5 by his wife who died and the other 2 (a 4 and 7 year old girls) by his Thai wife. They have a home north of Bangkok and also live in Sweden. His 17 year old son and 18 year old daughter will arrive tonight to holiday with them. There are 4 young kids. They are in and out of the pool, dressed and undressed, and all having fun. The 18 year old took some sponge liners out from her bikini top and put them on a lounger. The little 4 year old came along and seen them, decided to put here bikini on (the little ones were all swimming nude) and then put the sponge liners in her top, with half of them hanging out. It was so funny to watch, then she went to little Kevin about 3 and took his hands and put them on her boobs to fill the sponges. I was the only one around watching, laughing and so I just had to take a picture of her. What the Dad came over for was to ask if we would like to come out in a boat with them to visit 4 islands, snorkel, fish and swim. Lunch is included in the price. We explain our plans for tomorrow and have to decline, but our conversation continues for awhile until he is called away to the phone.
The two fishermen from England were over and telling us about their trip to the point to fish but weren't successful. They say tomorrow they will go out in a boat.
The manager is barbequing chicken for dinner so we join in and order that, a change and he has a boiled potato. I was hoping for a baked potato, but would like any potato as I haven't had them (outside of fries) since we left home. He brings the potato over wrapped in foil, it looks whole and I am getting excited about this, only don't want to be disappointed just incase when I open it it is something else. It is a baked potato and there is butter for it and it is piping hot. Did it ever taste good, no delicious. Dundee asked how it was and I said the potato was excellent and he said what about the chicken, I said it was good too, but the potato was very good. I got another potato! The Swed group sent us over 2 glasses of red wine. They bought their own liquor supply, quite a lot of it too.
Another day gone by so fast.

Hello travelers,Good thinking Jill,to check on your travel update requirements or and other alerts. Quick trip in and out of Cambodia and wolla you have 15 more days there.Saved some Bahts too. The boat trip to the Islands would have appealed to me. I have heard about the great scuba diving there. Seems like you learn your way around pretty fast. Winter weather is hitting the northwest now with a lot of heavy snow in Portland OR and Seattle WA, many plane flights cancelled. We are geting our share of rain here which is unusual for southern CA. Hey, I have heard about some political turmoil or protest happening there but not too much on the news about it . Apparentaly you must have missed the area that it was happening. The Swedes seem like nice folks.
Enjoy your bungalo and nice spot at the beach. Yes kids will be kids having fun and being mischevious.
Take Care, Dobru Den Len.
Henry
