We woke to the sound of the rain. It began about 6 and has been coming down quite hard. After breakfast we decide to go down to the sea shore and have a look. We dawn our ponchos and decide to wear our flip flops.

Our hotel is on a short side street off the main street. We begin to walk towards the main street and the water is getting deeper and deeper. We realize our main street is flooded as it is lower than anything around. We laugh as we watch bikes, scooters and even a couple of cars go down the street. We are now up to our mid calf in water, great choice for footwear today.

We head down the street being careful not to miss any of the steps up or down to the stores. The sidewalks are full of potholes and uneven. You usually have to walk on the road as they park the bikes scooters there. The end street heading down to the sea is not as flooded and we make our way to the beach. There is no care or concern of passing scooters and taxis for the ones on bikes or pedestrians. They just whip on by unconcerned for an accident let alone all the water they are splashing or waves they are making. Quite the sight.

We are not alone on the beach, there are other inquisitive tourists. We stop and take some pictures of the huge waves pounding the beach. We head back and decide to stop for lunch now that we are out.

We had passed a restaurant last night that is owned by a couple of American men who market their Texas BarBQ & Steaks Restaurant, as the only restaurant with all USA food and Budweiser beer. Len had read about the hot dogs on the menu last night and thought that would be good for lunch today. I have a burger with mustard and an A & W rootbeer. It was a great lunch. We watched the water in the street slowly receed as the rain lightened up and spent time talking with a couple from Australia who were hoping to head to Saigon to catch their flight home, but flights out of Nha Trang have been cancelled due to the weather. There is a typhoon off the coast causing all this rain and windy weather. One of the American owners is worried he won't be able to make his flight in the coming days as he is heading back to Florida for Thanksgiving.

Back to the room to dry out and catch some TV. We wash our legs and feet to make sure we are clean from walking in the water.

By mid afternoon the water on our street has all but dried up so we head out looking for another place for dinner. There are lots of restaurants with bbq's on the street and all the fresh seafood is on display. It looks so good.
