Up and of at our regular time. Not many trekkers on the trail yet, but lots of porters. Tendi explained they are all taking their goodies to Namche for the Bazar on Saturday. It would have been interesting to see, but no matter how I juggled our schedule we would not be there on a Saturday.
There were tinkers with their pots and pans, others with produce, eggs, and meat. Cut meat put in th woven baskets and covered over with a piece of plastic or tarps. Quite aeromatic, when I seen them coming I would take a deep breath and breath out slowly until we had passed. The meat looked mostly like fat and bones, not quite what we are used to.
We are now passing through more villages and farms. Ghat was interesting with all the carved prayer rocks, stuppas and prayer poles and wheels. It must be a holly town. By the way, the Maoist are not collecting money from trekkers in Ghat any more.
We are now back in Lukla at the same tea house where it all began. We have lunch and then settle up with Tendi. He seemed quite please with his pay and tip.
He goes off to see friends and we go for a walk to the airport. We hear some yak bells coming up behind us so we step onto some stairs to get out of their way. They come up the stair - it is where they want to go to get into a pasture! The gate is locked, they stop between Len and I. Len goes up the stairs and I jump - yes jump down and go down the street. I never moved so fast in my life. But more confusion, another yak group are coming past the stopped yaks. This never seems to go too well with yaks passing yaks. I grabbed a man and pulled him in front of me, I wonder if he appreciated that? Soon the gate to the pasture is open and the street is clear of yaks.
In Namche we heard a French man was attacked by a yak the day we were also in Namche. Some trekkers just keep on going ahead instead of giving way to the yaks. Tendi warned us to stop and stay out of their way in the beginning and again when we had left Namche.
We contnued onto the departure area of the airport to make sure we know what we have to do tomorrow when we leave. No one is around so we weigh ourselves, we figure we both lost about 10 pounds. With all the porridge and exercise we figure our cholosterol is about 0.
We walk back through the town, we get 2 snickers bars for breakfast tomorrow and check out a couple of bakeries. I noticed 2 women going from tea house to tea house, so I asked if they were looking for a cheap place to stay and they said yes, so I told them to watch for me outside of our tea house as it was quite cheap. Then Tendi came along and he took them in and they took a room there. The girls met us at dinner and thanked us for helping them.
Tendi then came to get his bag as he is off with a friend and will go half way home tonight and stay with his friend and then continue home tomorrow. He hugged us and shook our hands and said please do not forget him.
I don't think we will, we couldn't have found a better person to have shared our journey with.
We sat out in the sun for awhile and then went for another walk back to the airport, we just missed a flight coming in, but stayed to watch it take off. They are small aircraft, but the runway seems incredibly short.
We packed up things in the afternoon. LEN said name 10 reasons why I loved him, the first 8 were easy, and as the day went on I found 9 was because he had toilette paper left and the numbers keep growing as our day passes.
Back to the tea house where we watched a movie from INDia. We caught onto the story line and we made up our own comments as to what they were saying and what was happening.Lots of English in it too. Had our soup and then stopped at the bakery for a cinnamon roll. Looked at the sun setting on the mountains behind us and then called it a day.
