The plane ride to Gatwick was somewhat painful, and the airline lost Wendy's bag, but after these first few mishaps things got going smoothly.  These past few days we wandered around London, staying with Dan's parents' friends Paul and Margot, who have a nice home in the Northern part of the city.

Tuesday we were quite tired from the flight, so we stayed nearby, walking around Camden Town and its market.  Tons of cool vintage shops and cheap (and rather aggressive) food vendors, but we didn't buy anything.  That evening we just watched a movie at Paul and Margot's, and thankfully Wendy's bag arrived before we went to bed.

Wednesday was primarily spent downtown.  We checked out the National Gallery in the morning but didn't spend a ton of time there (Dan can only handle so much jesus art).  Grabbed a sandwich at this awesome chain Pret a Manger for lunch and ate outside by a giant fountain.  Then we walked downt to the Thames river and took a few touristy pictures of Westminster, Big Ben, and the London Eye.  After this we made our way to a theatre and caught The Lion King musical.  Returned to Paul and Margot's after this, but not before grabbing a couple pints at a pub near their place.

Thursday spent a significant amount of time at the Tate Modern art museum... this one held Dan's interest for a bit longer.  We tried to get tickets for Midsummer Night's Dream at the nearby Globe Theatre but they were sold out of cheap standing-room ones.  Wandered around looking for a pub after this, but somehow ended up in the financial district surrounded by banks and rich looking dudes.

We are now in Cambridge at Dan's sister Julie's place.  Looking forward to more pubs, watching Julie do some rowing, and checking out some fancy ass colleges.

I am happy to hear that you got your luggage Wendy... Although that would have been a really good excuse to buy an entirely new wardrobe while traipsing across Europe!

The Lion King- I am jealous. You are very smart for doing that the SECOND night you were there. I saw wicked 4 hours after arriving in London, and by saw, I of course mean "snored through."

Keep drinking those pints, I have a feeling that will make for some very interesting blog posts!!

Hey guys! I am so glad you made it safely across the pond, and am envious of your apparent multitude of contacts with which to stay in the UK! Keep posting the blogs, I will attempt to religiously read them :)
loved the 9 3/4 platform photo ...
