Spirits slightly dampened we decided to do something in the evening that would cheer us up, go for an Indian at the local curry house!!. The food was not bad (great Nann bread!) but the comedy sized glass that came with our giant beers made us smile.
The next morning we got up early to try and catch a glimpse of the famously elusive mountain before the clouds came in but as we got to the top of the cable car up Mt
After a short trek to the very top of the mountain we headed back down past the tourist shops and to the bus stop where we decided to get a local bus (with a picture of Thomas the Tank engine on the side...random) to natural Ice caves in Narasuwa, made in the mountains by the flow of lava thousands of years ago. Despite the temperature being 30+ outside, a few steps in and the air hit you as if walking into a freezer. The caves were slippery, dark and sometimes awkward to manouvre in but well worth the effort. There was also a bat cave but I know it's not the real one as batman lives in Gotham City not Japan so we didn't bother!!!
Today we leave for Narita and a night of relative luxury in a hotel before our flight in the morning to Beijing.
