Having arived at 9 in the morning and unable to check in we did the only thing we could, head for the bar!! As we sat and played video poker (they get machines anywhere they can, these were on the bar top!) with our supprisingly good morning beer, we took in the sensory overload that is the casino and waited for our room which has turned out to be our cheapest and best room so far, we even payed for an upgrade to a room with a view of the strip although in hind site I don't think you could miss the strips flashing lights from any hotel room in Vegas! Vegas is an adults playground and were we not on a budget it would have been a very expensive playground with gambling food, drink and shows available 24/7 and although we tried to not overspend, the 42c heat wave (a record for this time of year) meant constant air conditioned expensive cab rides
Having walked the strip and seen the amazing array of shows outside the various casinos that try and lure you in to part with your hard earned cash, we took a day away from vegas to the grand canyon in our continuing rock and roll lifestyle by renting a hummer for the day and although Americans will tell you there's a petrol crisis cause they're paying a whole 50p a litre, for us English it worked out pretty cheap! The Canyon itself was an awesome sight and we took plenty of pics but they will never be able to do it justice and this is one sight that you definately have to see for youself to appreciate.
Leaving vegas we decided to get a bus to San Francisco as we thought it would be "fun". If your Idea of fun involves fights at the bus station and 11 hours of sitting next to a fat man who takes up half your seat then I had a jolly old time, as for me, next time I'll fly!
