A group of us decided to go to Memphis today to see Graceland and check some of the blues music out down on Beal Street.
Graceland was brilliant to see, as it is exactly the same as it was when Elvis passed away. Elvis fan or not you could spend the full day here looking around. This man was truly amazing. Not only was there a tour of the mansion but there are several museums with Elvis's cars and motor bikes, both his personal vehicles as well as the vehicles he used in the movies he made. There is also a full museum of all of his costumes that he would wear on stage during his performances.
We took a drive down onto the Mississippi River to check it out. This was great to actually be standing on the river that everyone talks about. On the way there I saw Sun Studio. This is where Elvis started his recording before he was recording through Studio 8 in Nashville. Sun Studio was also the same place where Johnny Cash recorded his first lot of songs. In the movie "Walk the Line" where Johnny Cash walked into studio, the sudio looks exactly the same.
Later on we went and had drinks at a club called B.B. Kings. The blues music these guys turn out is great. You don't get to see stuff like this at home. The guitarists in this joint were brilliant.
