The attraction for us here, apart from the obvious, was to get a contrast between the 'gringofied' feel of Tamarindo (lots of tourists, lots of American and Europeans expats), and the more Costa Rican town of Samara.
In the end, the difference wasn't all that marked (although perhaps the guide book hype didn't help) and we enjoyed both, even if there was no breakfast 'as big as our asses' here!
Arrived on Monday afternoon, after making (at least we thought so at the time) an exceedingly lucky connection - off one bus and straight on the other, and spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying a long walk and a swim. Just before going for dinner we meet a couple of volunteers from Granada, and so chatted for a while and met up again for dinner.
As well as pleasant company, the dinner was fantastic too - Francie enjoying a fresh shrimp pasta, and Sam a Costa Rican staple, Arroz con Pollo - a tasty take on chicken fried rice.
Also had a divine (darlings!) Tiramisu for dessert, so went home happy.
Tuesday was also relaxing, with more walks and swims, although we did have a rare 'travel argument' over, basically, and frustratingly slow and expensive internet connection whilst emailing Helen, Francie's Mum, who was kindly booking us some air tickets to Ireland at that very moment. Sam is taking anger management classes to cool his hatred of slow internet and computers in general, and taking his prescribed chill pills!!
Off to get in some jungle time in Monteverde, before heading back to the beach in a couple of days. Hasta Pronto!!
