Victoria could not have been happier!!  She's been asking allllll summer if she could have a manicure.  And FINALLY we managed to steal away to Aunt Arlene's manicurist for a treat.  She was all smiles!

And even before we did that, the kids got to ride on Lilly again!  Charlotte called to say she was at the stables, just down the hill from the backyard.  She didn't just let them ride - - she taught them how to brush her and clean her hooves, and all the names of her gear.  They paid attention with wide eyes. Ben wasn't too thrilled when Lilly whipped him in the face with her tail, so he steered clear of her back end for quite a while.  Katrina got to ride first.  Charlotte taught them how to get Lilly to go and stop - so cute how Katrina does her "click-click" noise!  Then Victoria got a turn.  She did very well!   Then it was Ben's turn....but Lilly decided she'd tell her friends in the barn about all the fun she was having!  Ben wasn't keen on how loud she was and decided he wasn't going to ride her.  So Char showed us how she rode, 'posting' when she rode fast.  So Ben decided he could try it now.  He really enjoyed it!

Arlene & Christine made arrangements to have a Cousin's Dinner at the Polish Villa II. They had traditional decor and even heritage costumes in the room.  The place was only open on Fridays, so it was very cool that we had the whole place to ourselves on a Monday night!  I think there were 34 cousins that we able to come!!  We had Celeste making up a family tree so we could figure out how we were all related.  Which kid belonged to which mother; who is brother and sister.  They don't all get together very often, but most of Maxine's first cousins have dinner once a month.  It was nice to have Kyle and Cory for Ben to play with and Julie for Victoria & Katrina to play with!  The Polish food was fantastic!  We took the pierogies home to eat for breakfast!  They played lots of polkas.  Arlene got Lorraine (I think!) to polka with her!!  That was much fun!   Ben was thrilled to have a disco ball in the room.  At the end, we let him play the jukebox and turned the disco lights on.  They danced all over the place. Where do they get this energy at the end of the night?

It was lots of fun getting everyone together and getting to know them!  You hear their names and stories and now we have faces to put with them.   I'm not going to get all the names right - or even try - so I'll have to sit with Maxine and get them posted right later.  Fortunately, there wasn't a test at the end of the evening.
