Aunt Arlene's in Niagra-on-the-Lake, ON, Canada

Our first full day here!  We finally got to Aunt Pat's by noon after a morning of reorganizing the trailer and moving in....uh, bringing some stuff into Aunt Arlene's house.  (For the record, she's Phil's second cousin, but the kids call her aunt!)

Aunt Patricia (Maxine's sister) and her son Brian live in West Seneca near Buffalo.  She made us a delicious homemade polish sausage and homemade chicken soup with homemade noodles!  Maxine said we were spoiled (yes, we know it!) and she only did that for Philip!  She's jealous.  Brian showed they his porcelin dragons that he painted.  The kids loved seeing her basement.  Now every house we go to, they ask to see the basement.  Silly Californians.

We didn't get to spend too much time with them, as we had to get over to Aunt Christine's house by 3:00....or 3:45 as it ended up being....

As we were leaving, Katrina was admiring her curio cabinet with the crystal trinkets displayed.  So she told her to pick one out to take home!   And a snow globe for Victoria too.  And then she gave Ben her super duper squirrel eliminator squirt gun!  They were happy kids.

So we got over to Aunt Christine and Uncle Walter's house (Maxine's cousin, Arlene's sister) in Buffalo. It was so wonderful to see them too!  The kids did really well at their house.   They took us to dinner at a Polish restaurant!!  The cheese perogies were SO good!!  I had golumki and Phil couldn't pass up the (second time today?  who's counting!) polish sausage!  Yes, folks, it's all about food today.  (But my 12's still fit!  surprisingly.)

They gave us a tour around the streets were Gene & Maxine used to live.  Unfortunately, these neighborhoods are in very poor shape.  Half of them were boarded up and a couple of the houses have been torn down.  (And several that were still there ought to be torn down.)  So sad to see these once-beautiful homes in such bad shape.

Back at their house, we played Kings in the Corner, Go Fish, and B.S. (that's Baloney Sandwich to you!).   Wait til Phil gets his teeth into some fried baloney sandwiches!!  Can't leave Buffalo with out it!

So as we were leaving, Katrina was admiring Aunt Christine's curio cabinet with all the pretty sparkling crystal....."Can I have one, Aunt Christine?"     What is this?!?  Souvenier shopping!?!?  Oh, that girl!!!   Oh dear!  This isn't like a garage sale!

So the crystal bell and the eggshell are carefully wrapped to make the trip......with the snow globes....

About the curio cabinet gotta know the relatives loved it and the children will treasure those 'treasures' forever. Such special times.
