Met up with Dave and Elaine last night and had the nicest dinner in Fallen Angels, a really funky place where some of the glass tables are over fish tanks! Fantastic day´s canyoning today, a first for Dave and Elaine and they loved it! We practiced for a little while on a knobbly, craggy wall with an interesting cave at the end of it so we just had to take a good jump near the end and swing ourselves down, deadly buzz! Hit the canyon then, a narrow cravasse in the mountain, with rugged mountains towering above us to our right.

Abseiled down five or six waterfalls, not even sure how many! Some were really slippy, one had a cave at the end so we had to jump like a swat team member, one was really narrow so it was hard to place our feet and all of them had water pouring down on us! Were totally secure at all times though, we just had to trust the rope! The water was incredibly cold, not helped in any way by Damo availing of every opportunity to dunk us! One particular waterfall had a lot of water towards the middle so it was best to stay to either side but Damian kindly steered us towards the middle from the bottom and we were of course totally powerless, that is until we made it down and showed him just how cold the water wa for himself!!

The ride back to Cuzco was every bit as interesting as the abseiling itself! The back wheel on the car was all but flat, so any time we hit a particularly uneven part of the road, we had to hop out! The last time was on a bridge barely wide enough to fit the car itself so the job was to fit out the door! Pumped the offending wheel at the first village we came to and bombed it back to Cusco. Passed loads of newly cut mud bricks stacked up to dry like turf at home on the side of the road, interesting to see the process. All the houses in the area are made of these bricks and are a reddish brown colour. Nicest of cat-naps and a really hot shower before dinner... bliss!
