Mersing
Only stayed here one night waiting to get the ferry to Pulau Tioman but every person we met was just lovely from the staff in East Coast Backpackers, to the Swiss husband and wife who owned P1, a really nice restaurant by the pier, to the guy in a phone shop who bought a phone card to help us use our international calling card from a public payphone (it still didnt work but it was amazingly kind of him!). We bought our ferry tickets at the guest house for the same price as they are at the pier and they called ahead to the island and arranged our accommodation for us, all free of charge! We left the next morning with very warm memories of our short stay!
