Today it's back to Athens. Our hydrofoil has been cancelled but replaced with a large catamaran so it may take a bit longer to get back to Athens than planned plus we must leave the island 2 hours later than originally planned. That's travel for you!
Tomorrow we struggle to Athens airport at 3:00 AM then on to Amsterdam and then to Detroit. Hopefully to MoTown by 2:15
We dined on goat in lemon sauce last night. Very tastey! I told the taverna owner that was the best goat I had ever eaten. She was delighted!!!
Of course it was the only goat I had ever eaten, but that makes for less of a story.
Marlyn had to settle for black eyed peas which they call beans here. She was also serenaded by a bazoukie (sp) player from Germany. We are staying in a hotel with a German tour group and we were chatting with them this morning at breakfast discussing genealogy. They were very familiar with the name Winterhalter, telling us that name is widespread in the Black Forest area.
The bike ride went well yesterday with lots and lots of verticality and some great speed on the downhill runs. Sore butts for all today though.
With any luck we will be back flushing down our toilet paper with great abandon by Saturday night! You have no idea how refreshing that thought is. 8^)
Ken & Marlyn - Your trip sounded fascinating! We learned so much about Greece and the people there through your entries and look forward to getting there someday ourselves. Did you reconnect with anyone from prior trips? I love Ken's commentary, especially about the 'best...and only goat' he has had. I think I ate goat tacos once a 'frickin' long time ago. We are doing well here in California... show all
