As is now tradition, as we leave Peru we have collected a list of Peruvian oddities. However, unfortuantely, we have only identified a few, so it is a rather sorry little list this time, but here it is anyway.

1) In Peru you can frequently travel by motor-trikes (donīt know there official name), which are basically motorised tuk tuks. Actually they are really handy for public transport and each has their own individual decor. For example, we have seen one decorated with the batman sign and another had pictures of reclining female nudes on alongside a picture of the Virgin Mary. The heirarchy and the experience of the driver can also be identified from the younger poorer drivers with no trike cover or side mirrors, to the top of the class taxi which is fully covered and completed with stereo and speakers and neon lights.

2) Peruvian cities seem to have no shortage of traffic police Go taxi, bike, cart thingy, GO!

. Identified by their luminescent jackets and whistles, travelling in packs of at least two. The most common place to find these officers are at fully-working traffice lights!! They beckon the traffice to move when the lights are green, and tell them to stop with great authority when the lights go red! They also use their whistle with great frequency and enthusiasm but for no identifiable reason.

3) The Peruvian breakfast does not appear to include the tradition of using plates. Every hostel we have been at in Peru has provided a basic breakfast (included in the price) of a couple of rolls with butter and jam, tea or coffee and juice. However, there has no been a single occassion in which they have provided us with plates! This means we have resorted to using the saucers as substitute plates.

4) Finally after a lot of hunting through 4 countries (by me Dave), I have now found a product with a funny name (if you are English that is).  The Peruvians have a Jam or Marmalade called Fanny! You can make your own jokes.

And thats its. So, onto our last country Ecuador.
