I forget to say in our last blog, we went from hot hot hot in Buenos Aires to bloody cold in Patagonia. We are now routinely wearing our attrative thermal underwear, Mmmmm. We arrived at El Calafate and went directly to our hostel which was most wonderfully heated by underfloor heating (Louise: my idea of heaven). Nice hostel, but we have had a nightmare with snoreres!!! Most of the travelling population appear to have a big and noisey problem with snoring. Our first night there we were kept awake until 6am by a South African girl with a blocked nose, only to be replaced at 6.05am with a very loud, very hairy Spanish dude, who sleeps only in a pair of red speedo pants! Seriously, we are starting to suffer from sleep deprivation, I suggest this is the biggest killer of the travelling population!!!
Anyone, we wake blearly eyed, and have booked tour one-day tours. A boat trip to three glaciers, and then a ice trek on Glacier Monero, which is one of the few stable glaciers
Next stop, El Chalten for some trekking.
P.s. Louise: It now appears that Dave has now lost his bank card - heaven help me! Dave: IŽll find it, its around somewhere. Louise: Hurrrrumph. Dave: I want the last word, Hah.
Chao.

Glacier
. Here words fail me, the glaciers are AMAZING!!!! We were both absolutely bowled over by the sheer size and beauty. The biggest ones must be as high as tower blocks, and thats only the 15% you can see above water. They go back miles and miles (some are around 150km). They are actually around 300 glaciers coming off one massive ice lake. The colour is also really startling, they are actually transparent, but aborb all light waves except blue, this means that they are a mix of white and bright blue highlights, as blue as a summer sky. Crazy! We also got too see ice falling off the ends, it sounded like thunder and reverberated around. The ice walking was also really great - Dave has now decided to take up ice climbing as a new hobby, which is useful bearing in mind all the glaciers we have in the UK! Anyway, I could go on about these galciers for ages, they are a real highlight, but I will let the photos speak for themselves. Enjoy!Next stop, El Chalten for some trekking.
