Flight down south to Patagonia, to Trelew, and onto the nearby town of Puerto Madryn. Did you realise that Patagonia on the Argentinian side is semi-dessert? We didnīt. It was really sparse, kinda scub land with 300,000 Marino sheep, and Llama too. The hostel was pretty rubbish, the guys left in charge didnīt really have a clue, and the room was freezing cold and noisy. Dave is also going mad packing and repacking (Dave: itīs propa rubbish, I didnīt predict that it would annoy me the most. Louise: Dave is propa rubbish. I didnīt predict he would annoy me the most!! lol)

The whole point of this visit was to go to Penninsula Valdes, where there is spectacular Marine life. Although we are out of season this was THE time to see Orches (Killer Whales) steal baby seals off the beach. So off we went through miles of sparse scrub, to the shores. We saw about one hundred Magellanic Penguins, really little and cute, but sound just like a donkey. We also saw 7 elephant seals (thatīs right 7, even thought there can be hundreds of thousands of them early in the season), and several hundred sea lions. We also saw a couple of Orches circling near that sealions. They proceeded to tempt us for the next three hours, but never actually made the strike. Very disappointing. Never mind, we had a freezing cold dormitory to look foward to!!! We also saw a Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle, lesser Rheas (like little brown ostraches), Llama, and a Hairy Armidillo (quite cute until you realised it looked like an oversized woodlouse!).

The next day we took it easy, had a nice meal and met a four irish folk who procceded to recommend Midget Wrestling in Bolivia! Well, lots to culture to look forward to then!! Oh, by the way, Dave left his Ipod on the tour bus which he collected from the bus depot. (Louise: HELP ME! We are only 9 days into travel and he is already losing stuff. Aaaaaaaahhh!)

Anyway, onward and downward. El Calafate next stop.

Adios Amigos.
