Dean's getting used to the early starts now :)
The Taxi picked us up at 7.00 and we were off to Flisvos Marina. We had arrived 30 minutes early.... Wish I had the camera out to record Dean's reaction ! Lol :)
Set sail at 8.00am for the Island of Hydra (pronounced Hidra).
With this type of one day tour, you get about 1.5 hours on each Island, which doesn't seem much, but unless you're going to stay on the Island, I think it's enough.
We had a wander around the idyllic little harbour. Then took a brief tour of the Museum which seems to have a bit of an identity crisis. Although nautical themed, it had artwork and artifacts that looked as though someone thought it would be a good place to keep anything old...
Back on board for a buffet lunch and off to Poros (role the R).....
Hehe, I can see you all doing the pronunciation exercises.....
The Aegean Sea is a wonderful deep blue, a very different colour to the turquoise we are used to.
Again, Poros was exactly as the tourist brochures display. The main road around the marina is lined with cafe/ bars, and terraced houses flow up the side of the mountain. We both noted the cleanliness and how picture postcard perfect the town appeared.
Back on board and an hour cruise to the Island of Aegina (you can work this one out :)
We didn't see much of Aegina as we had elected the optional tour of Moni Island. After a ten minute sprint across the bay on what appeared to be a "high speed tug boat", seriously quick boat that looked like it was built 40 years ago... we landed in a little bay. Here we swam and snorkelled for a while, perfect weather, and then relaxed with a super cold Fix beer (ice tea for Dean).
Back on the boat and a 2 hour cruise saw us back in Flisvos around 7.30pm.
Completely shattered, we had one last Souvlaki at our fav taverna and home.
The Island hopping is good fun, but you wouldn't want to do too much of it. I can imagine they would all look very much the same after a while. Given a little more time, I would probably pick the tour to Santorini, stay a few nights, explore and the return.
