To get to Raglan you have to take Raglan Road (funny that)...so Michael kept singing the first line of the song On Raglan Road in his best "Dublin accent" the whole way. Lovely. Raglan Road in New Zealand though is a dirt track so it's rough going but Karol our Corolla withstood the pressure (and the singing) and we got there at about 4.30pm. A few km outside the town there's a water fall called Bridal Falls. You used to be able to swim in the pool at the bottom of the falls but there was a sign up saying it's not safe anymore. Despite that, there were a few locals drying themselves off when we got there. Didn't spend long at the falls as The Lonely Planet warns of car thieves so we walked quickly back to our Jucy Corolla which thankfully hadn't been violated. Raglan is a really cute town on the West coast. Proceeded to look for a room for the night but being Saturday night, everywhere was full. We were advised to continue onto Manu Bay, we took a wrong road and found a B&B which was a one bed apartment with a view to die for over Whale Bay and Manu Bay.We went for a swim at Ngarunui Beach, a black sand beach popular with surfers and the only beach with lifeguards in the area. Went home, cooked dinner and watched two movies back to back in the sitting room of our one bed apartment - that was a real treat.
