Nelson is apparently meant to be the sunniest place in New Zealand, but for two out of our three days there, it was lashing. No matter, we were staying with my relations who showed us such a good time that it was very very...VERY hard to leave! So, Diane and Penny (who was trying to get some study done in between cooking up some five star meals for us) were at home. Megan and Ben would pop in after work and we'd proceed to start trying the New Zealand Sauv Blancs. Meanwhile Dan was tramping across Milford Sound (someone's got to do the hard work!). Diane brought us to the nearby metropolis of Nelson (which is a very arty place) to the WOW! Museum which was class. It has an exhibition on lots of old cars and a wearable art show. Definitely worth a visit. Nelson mightn't be as famous as Marlbourough for it's wines, but they're equally as good. So, we were brought us to a few vineyards including Neudorf. They're not big exporters but Irish people can have a taste in Patrick Guibalds in Dublin or Peblos in Kilkenny if they have the money to spend in these hard times! The rain finally lifted on day three and we went to Abel Tasman National Park which is just down the road. Really fabulous there, a bit windy so we didn't Kayak, just trekked from Marahau to Torrent Bay which took about four hours and at the end of it, we got a water taxi back to Marahau to pick up the car. Michael also took Sam (Strongs dog) for a walk in the Orchard and managed to loose him. Sam actually did a runner, so after searching and searching for him Mike arrived back at the house to break the news, only to be greeted by a very happy Sam. Minor heart attack over - Sam now is pride of place on our laptop as the screen saver! Thanks to all the Strongs for such a wonderful time at the Loop! We'll be back!
