It was still raining when we got to Greymouth - so it was fairly grey. But, apparently it's fairly grey on a sunny day so go figure. It was Saturday night so the owner of the Hostel told us there was a brewery tour in a half an hour, BBQ included so we said we'd go along. Monteiths is the brewery and it was a good tour. Lots of backpackers did the tour and it was a good way to meet people. Australia was playing New Zealand that evening in the final of the Rugby League World Cup so we stayed on in the bar to watch the match with a couple from Sydney and a guy from Sweden who had the thickest Irish accent, because he'd been living in Dublin for a few years. We cheered on the Aussies but the Kiwis won. So one of the locals came up to Michael afterwards to rub in the victory but when he asked Grechy where he was from, Michael said 'Ireland' (in a dodgy Irish accent). He got away with it.
