We arrived in the land of Starbucks and very big servings mid-afternoon and went to the Hostel. It's quite nice, a good location - one block from South beach. Got up to very little in Miami. Hung out at the beach and got to know the other people in the Hostel. Lots of different nationalities which makes for interesting conversations and observations. Many, many Irish students who are on holidays from University. Where do these kids get the money nowadays?!
The shopping in Miami is really good. So good that two Irish girls in our dorm bought two extra suitcases to bring home all the clothes they bought in Miami. Hope they get the weather for it!
We went to a place called Coconut Grove on Monday, it involved getting a bus downtown and another to Coconut Grove, wasn't really worth the effort to be honest. Wasn't as nice as the beach, it was a Marina.
Miami is really about people watching and there's lots of that to be done! Don't know where the locals get money for their cars or the petrol, but there's a lot 'cruising around'. Lots of beautiful people (and not so beautiful it has to be said!) strutting their stuff.
We watched a bunch of girls play volleyball one day and they looked like they fell out of In Style Magazine - not a blemish - anywhere.
It's the kind of place a film crew randomly films on the beach - which resulted in me running behind Grechy to stay out of view of the wide angled lens!
Everything is pretty expensive in Miami. So, we lived off Subway sandwiches which i learned to tolerate because they had a particular 'deal' going. We also signed up for library cards towards the end of our stay to get free Internet and scoured newspapers for two for one deals on coffees and smoothies.
We are now officially backpacking!

Oh my God - judging by these pictures and your words - Miami is SOOOO overrated!!!! Croatia has way better beaches. I don't like those posing people either - it's not so important how does someone looks, it's important to have a brain.

Great blog anyway.
