Average Speed: 35.1

We stopped by the visitor center at the Lolo Pass, following in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark (who knows, maybe there was a visitor center there).  The ranger there told us about some cool lakes up in the high country that we could hike to. We started driving up the 1 lane, dirt, winding road, and found out there was ANOTHER wildfire.  Apparently May and June are the months to be in Idaho.  Not August and September.  Bummer.  We thought we'd keep going, but were soon thwarted by a truck in the road cutting down a tree that was also blocking the road.  We turned around, and decided to break camp and get the dodge out of Idaho.  We'd have to come up with some other plan.

On the way out of Idaho, we walked through the DeVoto Cedar Grove.  It was a very peaceful and fragrant forest of ancient cedars (think 3000+ years old!).  We also hiked up to some hot springs.  They were right, the water was very hot. It was a cool place.

We also passed by Lowell, Idaho, which was supposed to be a campsite for us.  We never saw the campground, and the town had a populate of 23.  We kept going to Lewiston, and camped on the banks of the Snake River. Across the river was Washington.
