Well, I ended up getting home at around 11:30. Crap, I still have a project due tomorrow. So I make a hefty sandwich, a cup of coffee, and get to work. I had to create a 15-20 minute presentation on Anheuser-Busch's expansion into South America. The case study was actually much more interesting than I thought it'd be. By 2:00 I was able to catch my second wind; a Red Bull kinda helped that along as well. I ended up finishing the beast by 4:00, 4:30. No big deal. I felt good about it. Gah; 7:30 rolls around and my alarm is evil. I pound a cup o' coffee, take a shower, drink a Red Bull, and ride to class. By the time I get there I am wide-awake and ready to dominate this presentation. As soon as I walk into the room, my teacher greats me with "Ben, how are you? I meant to send you an email giving you an extra week for your project, but it slipped my mind. Are you ready?" Granted, I SHOULD have finished my project earlier; but the extra week would have been nice to...The presentation went great. There's actually very little I would have changed about it. I took a nap as soon as I got home, then updated the ole' blog as soon as I was coherent.
No class today! We instead had what I thought was going to be a very long tour with Hartwig. It ended up only lasting for a little over an hour; crazy. We walked through an ancient Roman sewer line, along an original Roman road, and around the ruins of Cologne's ruler's palace. It was a nice tour, and damn short for what we're used to with Hartwig. After the tour I rode my bike around the city for a little while, and then went to the gym. There was a huge soccer game going on tonight; Chelsea FC vs. Manchester United FC. It was actually the last game of the regular season before the Euro cup sets in. too bad I was going to miss it. I hop onto my computer as I'm packing and get a message from Maxi saying that she's trying to organize a group of people to go out and watch the game. To catch my train to Dresden I had to leave for the train station at 9:00. it was 8:00 now, I'll give myself 45 minutes to decide what I'm doing tonight: stay and watch the game, or go to Dresden tonight...After lots of deliberating, I choose to stay and watch the game. Since I have a Eurail pass, I'm not out any money; and I haven't gone out to the bars in Cologne in a while with friends either. I quickly figure out the new train schedules for my new plans and get on my way. I'll leave for Baden-Baden tomorrow, spend two days there, then head to Dresden for two days. We head into town, find a bar with big screens and cheap drinks; and sit down. The game was great. At least eight shots on the goal per team. The game was being played in Moscow, and it was pouring down rain. The game went into two rounds of penalty shots, with one save by the goal post on Chelsea; and one horrible kick by Manchester's arrogant captain, keeping things interesting. Manchester got the win thanks to a tremendous save by the goalie. Being a English game, the German fans weren't fanatics, but they were having a good time.
