Show trip route
It's been a couple of weeks since the last effort, time I've spent mainly just settling in and getting into (a rather hectic) routine. So much for the plan to slow down from the mad pace that was maintained in Brisbane!
Monday - Orphans 'family' dinner. Come one, come all to 33b 'House Of Hurt' Eckstein Rd, London for a feed. We (Kat, Cath, Kel, Ryan and myself) all take it in turns to cook up a storm on a weekly basis and invite any and all expats, locals, saffas, kiwis, aussies and strays over for a meal.
Tuesday - Touchup footy (er, rugby for all you poms). 2 games of.
Wednesday - alternating on a weekly basis between working for the local dive shop (almost earn enough to cover my habit) and quality time at one of the many local restaurants with Kel, Something to do with communication being the key to a successful relationship. Not too sure, really. Going to have to ask Kel about that one day.
Thursday - Touchup footy (er, rugby for all you poms) for the other 2/3rds of the House Of Hurt household, leaving me to finish off my house wife duties.
Friday & weekend - An afternoon and evening of quiet contemplation at one of the many drinking establishments to be found in the UK. Or racing off to some new, weird and wonderful destination. With churches and castles.
In betwixt doing all of the above, I have also managed to spend a weekends in Bath, Whittlesey and Falmouth:
I love that place! So relaxing, cold, unspoilt, reasonably priced, pretty, French free and only 2 - 4 hours from London, depending on traffic and success at navigation. Slept lots and jumped in the local spa, even the out doors bit, and relaxed while my head turned into an icicle. Also went to see Cardiff Castle. I want one. Going back to Bath again in a few weeks J Highlight: Sleeping for 30ish hours on a weekend.
SCUBA Instructor course. Diving in duck poo filled ponds followed by a swim in the hotel pool with kel J Hooray. I can really see why I took this sport up in the first place! Aced all the practical exams though, so 1 written exam away from being a qualified instructor. Highlight: Stepping on a car sensor for a car park whilst carrying all of my gear and having the boom gate open for me J Are you calling me fat?
Weekend away with a few friends from the local dive shoppe. A, er, friend of mine ;) taught Kel to dive in a dry suit and we threw her in too. Lots of wrecks (the poms seem to love to drive their boats into their little island in a vain attempt to push it further north). Lots of poms whinging about the weather. Harden the fluck up, and go dive off King Island. Then come complain to me about your 12 degree water, force 5 winds and meter high swell. SOFT! Hand me another pina colada with an umbrella in it. Also taught said poms how to party - Aussie style. Yaeger Bombs. Need I say more? (actually, I probably couldn't say too much more because the night is a little hazy after the 3rd round. Needless to say the beer scooter landed me in the right bed and lightened my wallet sufficiently. Ba$tards have got one of them over here too!). Lisa: Hurts so good! Highlight: Pushing Kel and one of the other instructors into the drink from the pier J
Other then that not too much else to report. Been pulling 45 hour weeks at work (usually squeezed in to 4 days with all the public holidays we've had). Finally settled my unit in Melbourne (Franklin St). Hooray! No more houses for me - 3 weeks! Already got a tenant in who will be paying off most of the mortgage. Double hooray!
Since she loves telling you what she's been up to and all...
She did most of the stuff above (I know, I know, hard to believe...) Just replace the word diving with touchup footy. A little crook today, so chucking a sicky (plenty of time for her to write up a blog. I'd really get on to her if you haven't any news from her!) Her current placement for work will be up soon and she's canvassing a few new recruitment companies, the better to earn more so that I can be a kept man. She also had this suave, charming, studly, well built, athletic, charming, suave, handsome, cut, intelligent gentleman of good character teach her how to dive in a dry suit the other day (in a 11degree Celsius duck poo filled pond). Next big(ish) trip: A Touchup footy (er, rugby for all you poms) tournament in Bath in mid June, possibly followed by a whirlwind tour of Rome.
