We stayed in phi phi for five nights in mr local dorms. I did not like the dorms too much as I was so used to not being hostels after oz. it was a 16 bed (!!!) which was quite a lot for us anyway and we got chucked out after our second night because of bed bugs, they wanted to exterminate the place. Luckily we didn't get them and weren't bitten at all, phew! However, we found ourselves homeless... We grabbed our stuff as quick as poss (as we had ten minutes to get out!!) it was 11am, we knew that the first ferry got in at 11am, very important for us to get to the available rooms before the ferry load do! Luckily we didn't have to walk too far to find a room, we managed to get him down on price too which is good! The moment we said yes we'll take it a guy walked in and asked if there were any rooms, he said they were full, phew indeed! I've complained to hostelworld to try and get the difference we had to pay for the two nights and they're looking into it, watch this space. Although on the plus side we had a lovely private room now.

Phi phi is very much a party place it was a bit like magaluf smells of sick and there are drunk people everywhere lol. There seemed to be a backpackers side and a holiday side more for families. You could even tell the difference between the beaches. We spent our first day on the beach chatting to a Canadian man and the night chatting to the people in our dorm, a few of them were unwell. The next day we took a very long walk to long beach at the other end of the island.. Half an hour of uphill and downhill trekking! It was lovely, the sea was so clear and a gorgeous colour. George loved all the fish swimming around us! I did not. We had a lovely day sunbathing and got a long tail boat back to the pier. We got ready and went out for a cocktail in a nice bar on the holiday side and watched a very good fire show. The guy did gangnam style with fire!!! Lol

We met my friend Lizzie that night who I worked with in Majorca. She brought an American guy out with her from we dorm. We ate street food had a good old chat and went to the same bar and watched the fire show.

But sadly that's the end of our happy memories in phi phi because later that night George got sick then I woke up at 4 am sick :( boo hiss, we were very ill and had to stay in bed the next day and night, neither of us could move. Luckily Lizzie brought us 4 bottles of water and some Pringles or we would have been screwed! This was when we decided to come home early for good. We were supposed to have just over three weeks left but we were short on money and both so ill we just wanted to go home. We had an amazing time but just had enough in the end, think the illness scared us a bit, the hotel room was a blessing in disguise really, at least we could be ill in private, definitely seen each other at our worst. So...we booked our flights home early and canclled the other hotels we had booked and got our money back. It's a shame we are missing out Laos and Chiang Mai but we wouldn't be able to afford to do everything we wanted so we decided to just live up our last few days in Lanta and Bangkok before our visa ran out... Quality of the time left rather than quantity of it!

We hoped so much that we would feel better for our last day because we were supposed to be doing the maya bay plankton tour where "the beach" was filmed. We did wake up better but was very weak and I still wasn't feeling great at all with a temperature and both so dehydrated. We had to move room again in the morning too. Both so upset we missed maya bay but I supposed we can always come again in the future... Stupid illness making us miss the lit up plankton.

We made our way to Koh Lanta the next morning still feeling weak but much better... We could actually stand up for more than 30 seconds, yay!!
