Zion National Park

Today we drove to the Sinai National Park.  This is a serious park, and it don't get any better.  Its got welcome centers, book stores, museums, tour shuttles with 11 stops for photo shoots and walking trails, and a hotel and eatery.  The shuttle service is mandatory, and at first this was annoying.  But with the amount of people traveling up the canyon, there is no way the Park could sustain that many automobiles; and the shuttle service was really well run.

Pat and I took a lot of pictures and I'm going to post some of them.  But it would take a couple of weeks of gaining experience just to begin to associate the names of the towers with the photos.  All of the shuttle stops had names like Zion Human History Museum, Canyon Junction where the Highway 9 splits off from the canyon and bears to the right.  Zion Lodge where one can get hotel rooms and eats, The Grotto, Weeping Rock, Temple of Sinawava.  Everywhere and every direction were magnificent cliffs, hiking trails, the Virgin River.  It was all great.  At each stop we'd pile off the shuttle and take our pictures and catch the next shuttle to continue.

Of the towers, there were names like The Great White Throne, Court of the Patriarchs, Weeping Rock, Angels Landing and so forth and so on.  I hope the pictures will give some idea of the majesty of these towers.

After we completed the shuttle tour, Pat, Doug and I drove Highway 9 to see the other part of the park including an at least mile long tunnel.  Once through, the scenic views were just as impressive as the canyon tour.  Again, more pictures.  It was a splendid day.
