Boulder Dam, Lake Mead, Valley of Fire

We traveled with ten mile boots yesterday and had a wonderful time.  The weather was quite comfortable.  There wasn't an excessive amount of traffic.  Outstanding day.

Driving first to Boulder Dam, I shutter bugged as much as I could.   But, because I suffer moderately with vertigo; looking over the side of that great structure was daunting to say the least.   Pat, who is a die in the wool,  film camera buff, took a lot of shots as well, and I'm looking forward to seeing them.

As a child of 7 or 8, I remember my parents taking me on a summer trip to see the dam.  It was exciting then.  It exiting now.

Continuing on, we drove around much of Lake Mead.  For a Saturday, there was a remarkable few people at or on the lake.  I was expecting a lot more.

The lake is much diminished through several years of draught and over usage of the water by states and cities.  I don't know how they're going to resolve this problem.  Good luck to them.

The real highlight of the day was the Valley of Fire.  Now its quite a ways down the road, but now that I've seen it, I can't imagine missing it. It's not to be missed.

Great Pictures
Very cool.
If you get a chance, go to Red Rock Canyon. You can go in your own car and it is about 10 min. outside of Las Vegas.
