Scuba Diving - Taganga

So we wanted to explore the underwater world of the ocean and realizing that it would not break our bank to do so in Taganga, Maya and I have decided to spend a few days completing our PADI open water dive course with a extremely friendly Belgian-Colombian owned diver center that just recently opened (Aquantis). Over the last four days we have done six open water dives in the Caribbean Sea and can now call ourselves PADI open water certified! Yah! The diving was an awesome experience and one of the main reasons we did it was the possability of diving again later on in the trip. Isla Coiba? Bocas del Toro? The Corn Islands? Who knows...
The last day of the course though I was sick and it was not the most pleasant experience. To complete the certification I had to do both of my dives successfuly. I feel at ease in the water and scuba has been a lot of fun but the last two were pretty difficult as I was totally sick. I did the first dive, puked a few times, waited an hour and then went down again and finished my second. Ugh! Now that I feel a little better, I'm sure I'll look back on it with smiles...
Tanganga is a worthwhile place to visit too, especially if you are in Santa Marta. It is only a 15 minute colectivo ride between the two. Yes it has its has become a backpacker mecca but it really does have a lot to offer and has been fun for us both.
