Ok, so the pilot didn't actually say the last bit, but he could have. It's 5am now, day 2, and the kids are all laying on their huge bed in the Flamingo hotel, looking at the view from our 19th storey window. As Cian put it, "Vegas is still on!". There's plenty of activity on the strip below us.
Yesterday went pretty smoothly, we had gone up to the airport and done twilight check in, to try to get Lyn extra leg room, as this year is the first one that we haven't done premium economy ("there's a credit crunch, you know"). Despite turning up with the no ticket's (Lyn's fault!), he managed to charm the Virgin lady into giving him the last remaining exit row seat, and what's more, he got it free, instead of paying the £75 he should have. I think the Virgin lady took pity on me, and made him sit on his own, with Io and Ci behind him, and then Tegz and me behind them. It all worked pretty well, and I managed to watch Hannah Montana the Movie (shhhh, don't tell anyone!), and I Love You, Man, which was quite funny. I did watch 5 minutes of Marley and Me, but managed to turn over when they were putting Marley in the boot to take him to the vets, and immediately started crying, and couldn't answer the stewardess when she asked me did I want water or juice!
We were very quick off the plane, and even quicker through immigration. SpongeBob stayed in Cian's rucksack so there was no danger of an near international incident like last year. We thought it was too good to last, then our bags took nearly an hour to come off. Apparently they couldn't open the door! Better than not being able to close it I suppose. We were in good company as all the upper and premium economy bags were stuck too.
We left terminal 2, and walked outside. Cian looked up at the sky, and raised his arms and shouted "I'm Home!" (honestly). We braved the heat, and walked for 4 minutes to Terminal 1, and looked for Door 9, where we'd arranged a secret surprise for the kids. I managed to distract them, while Lyn sorted it out, and the we were led to a Tomato Ketchup coloured Stretch Limo (Tegz's description).
Lyn queued to get our keys, and we went to our room, where we all passed out on the beds and got extremely ratty with each other. It was now 3am for our body clocks, but we needed food. After quick showers and a few rows we headed out. We had learnt our lesson of not having a big buffet after a long flight after we had to clean up Tegz's spaghetti sick 2 years ago, so we headed to the casino next door where we ate a mixture of subways, pizza slices and McD's, (not all at the same time!) After watching some guys play Beer Pong, (a strange game involving a ping pong table, a ping pong ball, a jug of beer and glasses of beer each end of the table!), we got back to our room and passed out again, with Lyn and I having little chat's at 12pm, 1am, 2.15am, 3am, and a little bed swapping activity at 5am. We are waiting for the buffet to open now at hopefully 6am, so we can hit the pool at 8am. Sorted!
