We had a really relaxing morning, as we stayed in the house trying to sort out accommodation for next week, due to our change of plans. I'd sent a couple of e mails off about possible accommodations, but no body had got back to me yet, and I was starting to worry me a bit. I'd felt really strange last night, when I thought about what could have happened. It was a horrible feeling, probably not helped by an over active imagination and too many glasses of Tia Maria! I also felt really unsettled with nothing planned yet for next week.
This morning I happened to hit on a web site showing luxury homes for rent in Mammoth Lakes
Within an hour we had a phone call off Wally. When he told me the price of his house I nearly fell of my chair. It was way out of our price range! He also couldn't do the full 7 night we wanted, only the first 6. I asked him, without much hope, whether he could do any deals, and told him our budget. He said he's speak to his wife (typical man, lol) and get back to me. I raced to show Lyn the web site photos, and within 10 minutes Wally was phoning me back to say it was a deal! Wow, we saved over $2000!!!
I can't wait to stay in the house, it'll be the best one we've ever stayed in!
Also, we had to fill another night at the end of the 6 nights. My first thought was another night in Vegas, but then I had a brainwave, and came up with something unique, that again I can't wait for! It's strange, what seemed like the end of the world a few days ago, has now turned out to be really exciting. Everything for a purpose, as they say!!
Typically we had a phone call off Tracey tonight, who we were renting the Midpines house off
After all that was sorted, we went out to the beach at San Simeon, at the start of the Big Sur. The weather was lovely, the kids loved it, and I fell asleep on the beach. We had the beach practically to ourselves, apart from some kite surfers.
When it came to getting the sand off the kids Tegz stripped off and ran in the sea! I think she was getting some of the naked Hippy California vibes! Cian, of course had to follow, but Ioan stayed sensibly covered!
We went for a drive back up Vineyard Drive again, as it's so picturesque and peaceful, and then onto San Loius Obispo to the Framers Market. I'd read a lot about the market, and couldn't wait to go. I just wish it had been earlier on in the week so we could have bought more fresh food. It seems pointless now, as we have 2 nights in a hotel
The Farmers Market was bustling. It covers 6 pedestrianised blocks, and is full of stalls selling mostly fresh organic fruit & veg from local farms. It also had loads of buskers etc. There was even an orchestra playing! The shops all stay open till late on Thursday nights for it, and it had a really good vibe. SLO has really good shops, including an Apple shop! I bought some peaches which I had when I got in, along with some fresh pomegranate juice. Wow!!!
Kids are all in bed now, and I'm going to hit the bath with some Tia Maria. Got a long day tomorrow, as we're going over 250 miles and stopping at an outlet mall! Stress city!
Catch you from San Fran!!
