Our last stop was Roussillon, yet another hilltop village...but this one was different. The other villages "pale" in comparison to this one, which was situated on an unusual outcropping of vibrant ochre rocks. The buildings were also stained in various earth tone shades using pigments found in the earth. Nancy enjoyed trying to collect different shades of sand in her book of mixed media paintings created on the trip, while Curtis took pictures. As exciting as painting with sand was, Nancy bought some processed pigment as a souvenir--minus the sand--to use in her artwork. We noticed a black and white cat - its white fur tinted brick red by its dusty habitat. What a beautiful village to visit at sunset on our last day in Provence.
