Great Western Mardi Gras
What I did
The party bus only has seating around the sides, there is a pole in the middle which will come in to play on the second half of our trip to night and down the front behind the drivers seat was a big sink full of ice to chill our drinks. When we boarded the bus it was really pumping. Our first stop was Fremont St. It's a bit hard to explain but part of the street has a roof over it. There was a live band up on stage don't know what they were called but I think they lead singer was either Sam Riddle or Billy Carmody. They were awesome. Fred was really into it
Back on the bus the younger contingent challenged us to a pole dancing competition. We were all quite oiled by this time so it was very funny. Our party bus drove around a bit more then dropped us off outside the Bellagio where we were just in time to see the fountain display. Fred & I have now been formerly adopted by the youngsters who have insisted that we come out with them. Some of our group went back to the hotel, but Fred & I decided to give the ball a kick. It's quite weird but you can carry your own drinks around from one place to the other, a kind of BYO no one seems to bother, every one is drinking in the streets, but the thing that stands out the most, is Vegas is full of happy people.
Party central was now in a bar in the Cosmopolitan. One of the girls spotted a guy named Jay from the band Wanted. Don't ask me I've never heard of them. I asked them if they wanted to meet him. Well of course they did. I got within 2 foot of him the said "Jay, is that you, you don't recognise me do you, it's your Aunty Ginger and Uncle Fred, Oh you have grown come over here and give your old Aunty a hug." Bless him he went right along with it, gave me a big hug, I don't know what Fred said to him but he lifted him off the ground in a bear hug
12/8/13 It was a great night last night so a bit of chilling out around the pool was definitely needed. Fred & I took the hotel shuttle bus back to the strip around 6pm when things had cooled down a bit. We walked almost the length up one side and down the other, we watched a volcano erupt outside the Mirage walked through the beautiful forum shops, watched the pirates battle it out at Treasure Island. Went into a western restaurant that catered for line dancers, saw the gondola's at the Venetian, it just went on and on. We've had a great 2 days in Vegas one more day would have been good to see a bit more but we now know what Vegas is all about.Tomorrow we head for the Grand Canyon.
