Our first stop to day was Lombard St, the most crooked street in the world. the crooked part is right at the top, to get there you have to walk up 150 meters of the steepest street I've ever had to negotiate
The bay cruise was really good, we went right under the Golden Gate bridge, which is quite impressive. Apparently at least one person every two weeks commits suicide off the bridge. We had a real close look at Alcatraz (The Rock) very creepy place and a birds eye view of the San Francisco skyline. It was Katarin's birthday today and she treated us all to a beautiful lollypop cake on a stick.
For lunch Fred & I decided to try the local speciality, clam chowder, which we chose to be served in a bread cob. They slice the top off the roll making a bit of a well then fill it with the chowder. It was really nice. Fred & I were just going for a coffee before getting back on the coach, when suddenly this older Chinese lady asked Fred "Do you know where our coach is." Fred said "Well I know where mine is, but I'm not sure where your's is." She said "I recognise you, you're on my coach." She also couldn't remember what time we were suppose to be back. I'm going to miss our Asian friends, they are absolutely priceless.
We finished off our day by visiting a famous landmark that was built for the 1915 Pan Pacific Expo. The people of San Francisco liked it so much they kept it. The Palace of fine arts as it is called was also a celebration of the opening of the Panama Canal and message to the world that San Francisco had recovered from the crippling earthquake of 1906. The last treat of the day was a trip across the bridge and a drive to the highest point in San Fran, Twin Peaks. The fog was rolling in thick and fast so visibility was very poor.
We were invited to Join Katrin, Frank, Oliver and Sarah for dinner to celebrate our last night at the Red Roof Inn and Katarin's birthday. They have one more day at the hotel then they are off to Vegas. We move to a hotel in the city tomorrow. We will be staying there a couple of nights before joining our next tour.
