We took a private bus for the 2 hr journey from Chennai to Mamallapuram, good job really as Doris has a touch of sleeping sickness. I am also having a re-occurrance of bulimic bottom. To be honest we are all feeling a little weary after our epic Nth India trip, and really haven't had much time to gather our reserves to start again. We arrived in Mamallapuram about 8.15am in time for breakfast. This morning's organised activity is a bike ride around the town and out to the beach.
Doris nodded off through lunch, so I left early with her to go back to the hotel. As we were walking along the road, which I might add was quite well swept and rubbish free, I saw a big ball of rubbish come hurtling out of the window of a stationary bus. I approached the spot where the rubbish had landed, picked it up, went to the window where it had been ejected, and said to the bloke sitting there "I think you've dropped something". He was like a deer caught in the headlights, in total shock! I threw it back to him through the window. A rather well dressed young man approaching us had a big smile on his face, and a taxi driver who'd been watching this little bit of street drama said, "Good job" as we passed by his car. It's my first step in my 'Clean Up India' campaign.
With the exception of Fred and Doris, the rest of us are going to visit The Little Angels orphanage here in Mamallapuram. Santo has asked us if we would like to donate a 25kg bag of rice which everyone readily agreed to, being as the orphanage is run solely on charity.
Doris is still a bit sleepy, hope we both get a good nights kip as we are up early tomorrow morning to catch the train to our next destination.
