Update 2

Last weekend I went to the Italian Riveria and Cinque Terre. I had school off on friday, because there was a field trip organized for the students in marketing. Since I am not in marketing, I had a free day. Kristi, Clark, and I decided to spend a night in Monarola in Cinque Terre. Our train left at 5:20 am, so we had a full day there. We got ther around 10 and checked in to our hostel. The man at the desk hardly spoke any english, so it was and interesting experince. Apparently two Cristina's had called and he had mixed up our reservation. We ended up getting a private room with a bath, instead of the dorms, and becuase it was his mix up we didnt have to pay more!
After checking in, we walked around and hung out at the beach. Kristi and I were determined to get tan, even though the weather wasnt cooperating. It started drizzling, but we stuck it out, and the sun ended up coming outin the late afternoon. Then we all hiked around for a little while. After cleaning up, we headed to bar and had a few drink, where clark dared to be bold and try grappa. Then we went to dinner at a nice place on the seaside. Kristi and I both had a seafood pasta dish, it was different but good. Later we went to a pub where the world cup was on. The place was packed. Apparently this bar we were at has a lot of american travelers visit it. There were US 1 dollar bills on the wall with writing all over them. Each dollar had a name of a city or college on it. So the three of us all made dollars bills and put them on the wall. Iam sure mine was the only UT bill in there. haha
Kristi and I ended up calling it an early night because we had been up a long time. The next day we were supposed to catch a train in the morning and meet the group in Santa Margreita where the school had organized a day trip. We missed the first train, but did meet up with the group eventually. Saturday was beautiful and extreamly hot. We got to lay out on the beach, and i finally have an italian glow to me :) Santa Margreita didnt have a lot to see so we mostly lied out on the beach. We did stop in a bakery though where i had to try the chocolate cake....
We got back late stauday night. Sunday Kristi and I explored one of the biggest flea markets in the area. After getting slightly lost we eventually found it. I have never seen so much random junk in my life. I ended up getting some cute plates with cities in italy on them. Unfortuantley, on my way home I tripped and broke one. Typical me... On sunday we also saw the shroud. Well not the actual shrouad, since that isnt open to the public, but i saw a picture, as well as the xrays of the shroud. It is really amazing to see the xray. I thought i might not be able to see the resmebelence, but the xray clearly looks like jesus..kinda freaky. I would have liked to find out more about it, but mass was going on in the church so i felt awkward snooping around.
This weekend we are planning on going to Milan and Venice. I am really excited. On firday evening I will be meeting up with Coleen Barni (friend from home) so i am super excited to see a familar face. I also just got and email from Lisa (another friend from home) who informed me she might be in Paris while i am there. Nothing is definite yet, but i am really excited about the idea.
Aside from everything I have physically been doing, I also have been doing a lot of thinking. I have mixed feelings about alot of stuff. This progrma is almost over. Part of me is excited to move on to the next leg of my journey, part of me, wishes it was going quicker so i could be home, and part of me doesnt want to leave. I am excited to see more of Europe but i will be sad to say goodbye to the friends i have made here. Thank you to everyone who keeps emailing me. Some friends and i were saying how funny we act when we get emails from home. Everyone is always so giddy when they hear from friends. I have learned that it is easy to take communication for granted. So i just want you to know that hearing from you always brightens my day.
Alright, well i have babbled enough. i am off to reseach modern architecture and modern structures. (sounds like fun, right?)
ciao!
